The fat is extracted from different parts of the body such as the abdomen or thighs with micro-cannula and injected into the skin. Fat is transferred using specific techniques to an injector to be injected into the target area. Since the procedure does not require any cutting into the facial tissue, there will be no scars on the face. Facial fat injections will leave skin lifted fuller and glowing. The surgery is usually carried out under general anaesthetics and lasts for 30 minutes to an hour. Fat Transfer Injection Results are not 100% guaranteed. 30 to 60% of the fat cells will usually die off; fat cells that have survived will start to plump up to fully take effect. Fat transfer injections are much longer-lasting than dermal fillers.

Fat injections can be carried out on different parts of the face such as lips, cheekbones, forehead, nasolabial lines, jawline, and cheeks. The result will be permanent on the cheeks and forehead, whereas on moving areas such as lips the result may not last as long. Any swelling or bruise at the donor site (where fat was extracted) can be expected, but it should settle within a couple of weeks.

Most of the patients are discharged on the same day. Any injection area bruising or swelling should disappear within 3 to 5 days.
